HUGE congratulations goes out to Jennifer Hudson and her fiance David Otunga on the birth of their first child together last night. Jen pushed out David Daniel Jr. late last night, which was the first time then found out the sex of their baby. No clue on what they would've named the baby if it were a girl. David Jr. weighed in at 7 lbs 14 oz.

Jennifer Hudson opens up about her mom

Jennifer Hudson hasn't spoken once about the horrible murders of her mother Darnell, brother Jason, and her nephew Julian that happened back in October. Reporters have been ordered to not even approach her about the subject. But in the June issue of Essence magazine, she briefly spoke about her relationship with her mother.

I was always a mama's baby. I'd go and sleep in her bed until I was 15 years old. The thing that keeps me going is knowing that God is in control. It's like, if He placed me here then I must be prepared.

It's real good to see her bouncing back and trying to move on, especially since soon after it happened, she told her friend and fellow Idol alum Fantasia Barrino that she didn't feel like singing anymore.

Jennifer Hudson speaks on wedding plans

With all of the horrible drama that surrounded her for a while behind her (but not forgotten), Jennifer Hudson is ready to move forward. She kicked off her headlining tour with Robin Thicke yesterday in Albany, NY, and is starting to focus a lot on her wedding. She sat down with Access Hollywood and talked about the detail her fiance, David Otunga, gave to her engagement ring, whether a date has been set, and more.

Her engagement ring: "David picked it out to match my studs. He went back to Neil Lane and he said he had to get the ring to go with it."

Wedding Date?: "It's a secret date."

Picking out a wedding dress: "I'm gonna design my own dress. I want to design it... Definitely classic, more traditional than anything. I want it to be nice and traditional, but very classy, very classy."

Her dogs: "I want my dogs to be in my wedding. I am so serious. Like Oscar might be the ring bearer or something. We'll send them down the aisle with a little tux or something, a little dress."

Okay, I was with her until she brought up the dogs. Why are some people obsessed with having their pets in their wedding? I think I'll get a hamster and train it to walk down the aisle with the rings for my wedding. Dummies.

Normally I'd blast whoever leaked this story for even putting it out there in the first place, considering everything that Jennifer Hudson has been through recently, but I decided not to. It's true that she didn't sing live, but it was to help her make the best public appearance for the first time since her family tragedy. Ricky Minor, who produced the show, made the call.

This was such an important performance, because it's the first time everyone has seen Jennifer. But she's in such a great place, with such great spirits, and time can heal her wounds. She's on fire right now and totally grounded. That's the right way to do it. There's too many variables to go live. I would never recommend any artist go live, because the slightest glitch would devastate the performance.

If it was a concert, it was one thing. But I think we should give Jen a little slack, here. Produced or live, she KILLED it, and I think Jamie Foxx's text to her says it best -- "Amazing. Brought tears to my eyes."

Whatever you do, don't call it a comeback for Jennifer Hudson, because she never faded. Jen will be making her first major public appearance since the deaths of her brother, mother, and nephew a few months back when she performs the National Anthem at the Super Bowl on February 8.

Good for her. I'll be surprised if the whole place doesn't erupt for her.

Jennifer Hudson comments on Grammy noms

Like the lovely Miss Manda posted on Thursday, Jennifer Hudson received 4 Grammy nominations, which is definitely a bright light in her dark and horrible fall season so far. J-Hud actually broke her silence and talked to Access Hollywood about how excited she is to be nominated.

It's been a childhood dream of mine to release an album, so to receive 4 Grammy nominations is truly a blessing. I'm extremely honored and humbled by the nominations.

Good for her! It's just really sad that her mother won't be there with her daughter to see her possibly win. And you KNOW it's gonna get emotional if she does.

Arrest made in Hudson family murders

Jennifer Hudson can finally sleep at night knowing her family's murderer is behind bars. Jennifer's estranged brother-in-law, William Balfour, was arrested yesterday for murdering Jennifer's mother Darnell, her brother Jason, and her nephew Julian.

I'm hoping they don't give him the death penalty, and here's why. You kill him, you give him an out. You keep him alive and in jail for the rest of his life, that guy will suffer every single day. Plus, he'll get his ass kicked everyday too, because jail folk don't exactly like when you kill kids. At least, that's what I've heard. Either way, at least Jennifer can rest easy somewhat.

Weird twist in Hudson family murder case

William Balfour, who is the main and only suspect in the murders of Jennifer Hudson's mother Darnell, her brother Jason, and her 7-year-old nephew Julian, apparently told his girlfriend that he's guilty and murdered the family. Pretty cut and try, right? Except for the fact that when his girlfriend was questioned, she covered up for William and said he had nothing to do with the murders. William did, however, tell police that he was at the Hudson home the morning of the murders.

This is just a mess, and it's a case of just having to find one piece of evidence that places him at the scene during the time of the murders for the ball to get rolling on him being officially charged with something. I'm sure when that day comes, Jennifer, her sister Julia, and the rest of their family will feel like some sort of justice has been served. At least I hope so, for their sake.

More Jennifer Hudson updates

I hate that I have to constantly update you on such crappy news, but it's my job. There's a few updates to take care of, so here we go. First off, apparently William Balfour had threatened Jennifer Hudson's family about a month ago, saying he was going to kill Jen's sister Julia and "mess up everyone in the house." This was after William picked a fight with Julia and Jen's brother Jason, but Julia's ex-fiance Jason Peyton ended up kicking William's ass. Obviously, they didn't take his threats seriously.

Police are also saying they believe that Jen's 7-year-old nephew Julian King was alive when he left the house with William after the killings, and was shot and killed inside of the SUV he was found in. That's the only info police are releasing on their findings so far.

Finally, it was announced that a private memorial service will take place on Monday for all three family members. Although the memorial service is private, Jen and Julia have established the Hudson-King Foundation for Families of Slain Victims in honor of their mother Darnell, Jason, and Julian.

Hudson family murder update

Three updates for you all on the whole Hudson family murder situation. The lone suspect that Chicago police have in custody right now, William Balfour (who is Jennifer Hudson's brother-in-law and Julian King's stepfather), has refused to take a polygraph test, which totally reeks of guilt. Police have found a gun a few blocks away from where Julian's dead body was found in the back of the SUV that William was driving. And finally, it's very possible that William had some help. The following is an excerpt from a report. Not sure where the original is from, but I found this on bossip.com.

Security video at the South Side high school showed someone parking the Chrysler on Friday, but investigators have not been able to determine the person’s identity from the images, the sources said. A time stamp on the video showed the car was left there at 12:30 p.m. Friday, but it was unclear whether the stamp was accurate, sources said.

Like we have been since the start, we'll keep you updated on all of the info as we get it.

Simon Cowell comments on Jennifer Hudson tragedy

Obviously the biggest story on everyones' minds since the weekend has been Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother, and now nephew being murdered by her brother-in-law William Balfour. Simon Cowell, who became very familiar with Jennifer while she was on the third season of American Idol, offered his condolences on the situation.

What has happened is absolutely horrendous. My thoughts go out to Jennifer and all her family. This is absolutely horrible.

Just goes to show that even though people may not think so, Simon actually DOES have a heart.
