Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail gets a new home

After months of waiting, one of Slumdog Millionaire's youngest stars FINALLY has a new home for he and his family. The makers of the flick bought Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail a one-bedroom apartment on Monday that will house his entire family. The filmmakers are also looking for a home for the other youngster on the cast, Rubina Ali.

Well it's about f*cking time -- it's only been what? 8 months or so since the movie came out? Maybe I'm exaggerating, but you smell what I'm cookin' don't ya?

For weeks, I've thrown up posts off and on about how the stars of Slumdog Millionaire, mainly the youngsters Rubina Ali and Azhar Ismail, haven't been getting the support that producers of the movie promised to give them. Finally, after rumors of Rubina's father possibly selling her so that he could support his family and after hearing that both her and Azhar's house had been destroyed, director Danny Boyle flew to India to try and straighten everything out. Danny set up a trust fund last year to award money to both Rubina and Azhar, but for some reason they haven't been receiving any.

It's about time someone heads over there to figure all of this stuff out. We've heard all about how the stars were supposed to have a better life, meanwhile they were seeming to get worse with no one doing anything about it. Props to Danny for putting his foot down and trying to figure all this shizz out.

"Slumdog Millionaire" star's house demolished

10-year-old Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, who plays the younger version of a character in Slumdog Millionaire, was woken up in the middle of the night by a police officer with a bamboo stick. The little guy said he was really scared and thought he was going to get whacked with it. After he was taken out of the house, it was demolished as part of a demolition drive, which happens a lot in over-crowded and impoverished Indian cities. Azharuddin's house was one of about 30 houses destroyed overnight.

Call me crazy, but I feel like the Slumdog stars are getting NO benefit from starring in a movie that has 8 Oscars under it's built and has netted a sh*t ton of money. All we hear about is how the producers promised a better life for the stars, yet we're still hearing stories about the stars being sold by their parents because they're so desperate for cash or their houses being torn down. Seems a little fishy to me.
