Not only is Lady Gaga up for a total of 9 awards at the MTV Video Music Awards this year, but she's also slated to rock the stage and perform during the night, too. She already talked about being jacked up about her 9 nominations, but now she's promising to kick some ass up on stage.

I'm simply gutted to be both a performer and nominee at the 2009 VMAs. In fact, I'm so happy, I could die. I'm delighted to be in Beyoncé's company, and I can't wait to go to the awards show and hopefully kick some ass!

I heard she's AWESOME live. I just hope she keeps her penis in her pants this time.

Russell Brand MTV VMAs 2009

Russell Brand has been lined up to host the MTV Video Music Awards for the second straight year. You may remember him best for his Jonas Brothers' virginity joke, which caused Jordin Sparks to snap during her the acceptance speech of whatever award she won. After saying that she thought there was too much sex at this year's VMA's (what a prude), Taylor Swift went on to say how she avoids the mischief that just about every other teenage celeb has gotten involved with.

I wouldn't be a party girl even if I wasn't doing this; that's just not the way I live my life. There are cameras and microscopes now, but honestly, I wouldn't be a party girl either way. That's just not how I am.

Okay, A LOT of people have to lighten up and are taking this WAY too far (no offense, Amanda). Seriously. He's a host and he's paid to be funny (granted he was a little weak). But I guarantee that if it was anyone else who he ripped on like that, it wouldn't be an issue. But because it's the Jonas Brothers and they're like the heads of a frickin' cult, it's a huge issue. LIGHTEN UP!

I was happy Jordin Sparks stood up for herself and the Jo Bros. I think Russell Brand went overboard with the whole abstinence ring thing. It's funny once but 12 times later, it's just not. But then again, I like underdogs and people who do things they believe in...go Jordinnnn. Enjoy her pissed off moment :) and check out John Legend's face haha reminds me of Mike Myers when Kanye said Bush didn't like black people live on tv. haha

Christina Aguilera's VMA performance

If you couldn't tell, it's VMA review time. Christina Aguilera came back for her first performance since having her baby and looked smokin hot! She put a new spin on her first ever hit, Genie in a Bottle, and also performed one of her new songs, Keeps Getting Better. The new song is HOT, and I seriously think she could re-package Genie and make the new version a hit too!

Rihanna teams up with T.I. at VMAs!

The VMAs saw A LOT of random combos and collaborations, including Rihanna coming back after totally killing it with her hit Disturbia to open the show, and performing with T.I. for his jam Live Your Life. I loved these little collaborations and I think if MTV is smart, they'll do it again next year. Plus it seriously seemed like all the artists were having a blast. Check it out!

Hit us Britney, one more time!! It's been confirmed that Britney Spears is going to kick off the Video Music Awards for the second consecutive year. You KNOW she's looking for some redemption after bombing last year, and to give the big f*ck you to all the non-believers.

Hollywood still has Phelps Fever

Anyone who thought Michael Phelps' celebrity status would fade away once the Olympics were over happens to be dead wrong. Not only is Michael going to be a presenter at the MTV VMA's, but he's also set to host Saturday Night Live on September 13. This kid just can't be stopped...and he's only 23!!

US Weekly has officially confirmed that despite the rumors, Britney Spears won't be performing at the MTV VMA's for the second year in a row. She will be involved in the show in some capacity, though.

I'm actually kinda bummed. She's really busted her ass lately and whipped herself into shape (physically and mentally)-- I think she would've rocked this year.

Leave Britney's Spray-On Abs Alloooooone!!!!

A backstage source is saying that Britney Spears was so nervous about her VMA performance that she used a "spray on ab-defining tan" before going out on stage. The spray is used to create the illusion of more tone.

2 things:

1) If she was that nervous about looking tone, why not put on a shirt.

2) Where the hell can I get a can or six of that stuff???
