While Natalie Cole was getting a new kidney, her sister died

In a ridiculous sad story, Natalie Cole's sister Carol died on Monday afternoon after refusing to undergo chemotherapy when doctors found a cancerous spot on her lung. The even sadder part is that Natalie never got to say goodbye. She was by Carol's side comforting her when she got a call on Monday afternoon that they had a kidney for her. Natalie didn't want to go, but doctors told her she had to make it to Cedars-Sinai hospital within two hours or she wouldn't be able to get the kidney. So she went. And when she came out of the successful surgery, she learned that Carol died.

That's a really sad story. One sister gets a new lease on life while the other one loses hers. Can't help but feel bad for Natalie, and I really hope that she doesn't beat herself up over choosing to get the kidney over staying by Carol's side. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Cole family.

Natalie Cole gets kidney transplant

Natalie Cole underwent transplant surgery on Tuesday for a brand new kidney, and is said to be "resting comfortably" after the successful procedure. Natalie suffers from Hepatitis C and was receiving dialysis treatments a few times a week since around September while she was on tour before the transplant. She's been advised by her doctors to postpone her summer tour dates and just rest up for the next few months. She's remaining pretty optimistic though, which is definitely a plus.

Things happen for a reason, I've always been kind of a survivor type of girl. I'm strong, I have a lot of faith. I'm looking forward to having a good year. In spite of the health issues, I think I'm going to be fine.

It's good to see her so positive about everything. Hopefully she'll stay that way throughout the healing process. Get well soon, Nat Queen Cole!!

Natalie Cole has Hep C

do any of you even know who she is or is she too old skool for you guys? haha

The Grammy-winning singer, 58, discovered she had the disease during a routine visit to the doctor, but is responding well to treatment.

"Natalie has had a terrific response to her medication and is now virus negative," Dr. Graham Woolf, Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at U.C.L.A./Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, said in a statement."This gives her an increased chance of cure."

Doctors believe that Cole's illness is likely the result of drug usage decades ago, which she documented her 2000 autobiography, Angel On My Shoulder.

SO HENCE, JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS! haha
