LaKisha Jones talks babies, albums, and Idol

You may remember LaKisha Jones as the big (pun intended) star on Season 6 of American Idol who should probably be the head of every gospel choir in the country. After finishing 4th on her season, she's been working on her debut album, So Glad I'm Me, and also gearing up for another baby on the way. She talked to our friends at PopEater about her pregnancy, her album, and what she thinks of Idol this season.

How excited for So Glad I'm Me? "I'm very excited. It's been two years since I've been on [Idol,] so it's one of those things where I know that people were like 'When are you coming out with your album? Is the album out yet' and so I'm glad that it's finally here."

Do you have a favorite song on it? "I have two. One would be Beautiful Girls about my daughter ... Brionne ... that song is dedicated to her. The other song would be Free. It's about living life and being who you are. "

Can you describe the sound of your album? "[It's] a mixture of gospel, pop and R&B all in one. With my album, it's very important to listen to the lyrics, [they] tell a story … my story."

What's next? I know you're pregnant... "I'm having another little girl in August. So of course that's going to take some time for me to get back on track and get things going. Once I release my load then I can get on the road and be back in full force."

Is your daughter excited to be a big sister? "Oh God, yes. She is excited. Actually I talked to her ... and she says "I want to talk to my sister." So our thing is ... I put the phone on my stomach and she's like "Oh hi Avie” because the baby's name is going to be Ava and she's like "I’ll see you when … you come back with mommy."

What's it like being a celebrity mom? "That's weird you said 'celebrity' because I don't use that word ever. I don't feel like I’m a celebrity. I'm just LaKisha, the young lady who had a dream of singing and who was presented the opportunity through 'American Idol' to do what I love to do. But it's definitely a juggle -- motherhood and being a wife and trying to have a career all at the same time. I just take it one day at a time and try to pace myself."

Are you watching this season [of Idol]? "I have been."

Who's been your favorite? "I don't have one … they are all really good. One thing I do like about Adam is that he's unique. He can go from being a rocker with painted nail polish to clean cut, modern day Elvis Presley."

Who do you think is going to win? "It may have a twist ... no one really knows how many people voted for each contestant ... you never know what the outcome is ... it could be Kris Allen."
