Paula Abdul finally admits she had a drug addiction

It's really nothing we didn't already know, but in the June issue of Ladies' Home Journal, Paula Abdul is finally opening up about drugs, rehab, and withdrawal. You'll remember last week when I posted a story where she said she's never abused drugs before, which makes this interview all the better that she's finally admitting she had a problem. Paula landed in rehab around last Thanksgiving for an addiction to pain killers, which were prescribed while she was trying to get through her crazy dance routines and hectic work schedule. Like a lot of people, she just got hooked on them and needed to hit up rehab to ween herself off.

She also reveals something she kept hush-hush. In 2005, she was diagnosed with reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome, a chronic pain condition that literally disables you because it's so intense on top of teeth-chattering and lesions. She admitted that to deal with this, she wore a patch that delivered pain meds that were considered 80 times potent than morphine while she also took a nerve medication to fight the symptoms, which is why she always appeared trashed and loopy on Idol and interviews.

That actually explains a lot, and at least we know the truth that she's in chronic pain and not that she just has trouble putting down the bottle of JD.
