Kathy Griffin gives her opinion of the Chris Brown/Rihanna situation

When the A-List Awards air on Bravo next week, don't be surprised to hear Kathy Griffin take a shot at the Chris Brown/Rihanna drama going on in her opening number. But she wants to make one thing clear, even though she's using it as part of her comedic opening, she thinks the whole situation overall is very tragic.

It's heartbreaking to me that it seems like she doesn't want to testify against him. I've heard one theory that he bought her off, but that doesn't make sense to me, since she's so rich. It seems like she's suffering from classic battered woman syndrome. It breaks my heart that for whatever reason, she can't say 'Okay, this is going to suck, but I have to testify and put this guy away' - and then move on with her career. Because I think she's going to be fine. I'm sure that the trial would be very difficult for her to go through.I hear young women on 'Oprah' saying things like 'Well, you shouldn't piss off your man.' That's extremely upsetting to me. That photo of her - knowing the photo was taken that night and obviously she must have looked worse the next day - that fact is indisputable. You have to be hit so hard to get those bruises and lacerations. When Diddy says things like 'Well, a man should never put his hands on a woman, but a woman should never put her hands on a man,' don't act like it's a fair f*cking fight, Diddy. I really resent when anyone implies that she started it. It's not a cage match. She's a girl. Let's be honest. She can't physically hurt him - unless she hit him with a knife or a gun, not her fist or her hand or she slapped him - let's cut the sh**. I feel like this girl [Rihanna] is out there on her own, and more importantly, there are young women taking his side.

Kathy Griffin may look like a drag queen Andy Dick, but she just jumped up a few rungs on my "Ladder of Coolness." And to actually be serious for a second, I totally encourage ladies who are in a situation like Rihanna to take what Kathy says personally and really think about what she's saying, because she's totally right.

i agree with her. When I found out about the situation and reading comments from people saying like "she deserve to be hit" or "she started it and chris brown is not guilty" and all of that stuff, it really upset me. some even laugh about the situation. domestic violence is not a funny issue.
