Paraplegic Kyle Maynard making MMA debut

I'm all for rooting on the underdog, but this might borderline on the absolutely f*cking ridiculous. Kyle Maynard, a paraplegic who earned an ESPY for "best athlete with a disability" in 2004 for racking up a 35-16 wrestling record, is making his Amateur MMA this Saturday night in Auburn, Alabama against an unnamed opponent.

I'll post a video of him wrestling below, which is actually pretty impressive that he's able to not only defend himself but win a match, but MMA is a LOT different than wrestling. Wrestling is holds and takedowns and manuevers -- MMA is trying to legit incapacitate your opponent with chokes, punches, kicks, and everything in between until you knock your opponent out or make him tap/submit. Whoever the hell would grant a license for him is on crack. But anyway, good luck to Kyle...we're pullin for ya here at the Dirt!
