T.R. Knight says why he left Grey's Anatomy

We heard tons of rumors all throughout last season's airing of Grey's Anatomy that T.R. Knight was going to leave the show, but it didn't become final until just a few weeks ago. Now, T.R. is speaking out for the first time on just exactly why he decided to leave the show that made him a star. He said that in the first 9 episodes of the last season of Grey's, his character George was only featured for 48 minutes, versus Sandra Oh's character of Christina, who was featured for about 118 mins.

My five-year experience proved to me that I could not trust any answer that was given [about George]. And with respect, I'm going to leave it at that. There just comes a time when it's so clear that moving on is the best decision... From an outsider's perspective, I get the [impression that] 'He's just a spoiled actor... he doesn't know how good he has it.' There are a lot of people who would like to be in my position. But in the end, I need to be fulfilled in my work – that's more important than the money. [So] that's the goal. If I'm lucky to ever work again.

A few months ago, show creator Shonda Rhimes said on her Twitter page that she purposely underwrote George all season long so that the accident at the end of the season finale that involved him would be that much more impactful. I can see where she's coming from because it was definitely a HOLY SH*T! moment, but I don't blame T.R. for being pissed either.
