Monkees member has cancer

No, I'm not talking about Travis the Chimp. Peter Tork from the legendary band The Monkees has a rare form of cancer on his tongue. The cancer is Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, which usually develops on a person's salivary glands. Doctors are really optimistic, though, after performing a biopsy and seeing that the cancer hasn't spread at all. Peter is actually in good spirits about it, which is always a plus.

I am extraordinarily grateful, amazed and humbled by the encouragement, affection and support I've received so far. Barring any complications, I fully expect to honor a performance date I have this June with (current band) Shoe Suede Blues.

Good luck and stay positive, Peter!!
